And we danced all night to the best song ever

We were a little stressed out – we did have a biology final the next morning and we had to go to a concert we had been looking forward to for far too long. In the end it all worked out though.

It was right around 1 o’clock pm when we left the flat and headed towards Copenhagen. It was a glorious day – warm and sunny, and we were bursting with anticipation. This was going to be a good one.

We arrived at the stadium (Parken) close to 4 pm after being held in a minor (read major) traffic jam in the city (seriously it was madness). We did not even have to stand in line (we may have been a bit mischievous and skipped a bit of the queue) and once we were in the real fuss begun. We were told to sit down since we had to wait for quite a while but suddenly everyone was moving, and we were standing about 10 meters from the B-scene unable to move an inch.

And so the dehydrating waiting began. Luckily the security handed out water and sugar but it was a hassle to get your hand on – we got 2 cups for 4 people. In total I spotted 4 girls getting carried away passed out before the warm up had even started!

I must admit my fangirling started once McBusted took the stage – I mean these were the boybands of my younger days (for a minute I felt like I was age-appropriate with the other girls in the crowd). We sang along to “Obviously” and “Year 3000” to the best of our ability. Sadly we were left with another round of waiting again – more water was handed out, more girls were passing out up front.

And then it happened. One Direction appeared seemingly out of nowhere and it really blew me away. Not because their vocals put Whitney Houston to shame or because their dance moves were a world champion title worthy. Simply it was because they were standing 10 meters away from me. Moving, smiling, talking. You cannot understand it unless you have felt the same way about an idol. It really is quite special.

I do not really care what any music critic says, I enjoyed it. It was all I had hoped for. Naturally I could easily have been without the deafening screams, pushing fangirls and obnoxious people but I reckon it was part of the package.

We left our spots during “Story of My Life” and went to stand in the back for the final two numbers. This allowed us the opportunity to bust our rehearsed moves for “Best Song Ever” and with that we left. A little annoyed at our fellow fangirls who had to scream every time a 5SOS music video played or the ‘That Moment’ graphic ad came on, a little tired from the long day of waiting, but I was definitely full of good feelings as well (some which were not provoked by the music but rather by the boys and their…frisky dancing).

I still LOVE One Direction but next time (yes, there will be a next time) I go see them, I am sitting down at least until the real music begins.

Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares

“I want to believe there is a somebody out there for me. I want to believe that I exist to be there for that somebody.”

We are in New York City. It is the most beautiful time of the year. In a book store in the big city young Dash wanders around and suddenly he finds a notebook.
This is the beginning of a modern Christmas miracle.

In the story we witness how Lily and Dash fall for the idea of each other and we experience how expectations meet reality. It is a wonderful adventure of love, friendship, hope and honesty.

“I’m told there’s no going back. So I’m choosing forward.”

It is a beautiful story of young love. But not much more than that. It is carefree and will not prevent its reader from living in the real world – like the best books surely will. It will, however, warm your heart and maybe help to keep the hope of true love, soul mates and a happy ever after in check. You never really know.

Read this book if you are looking for a break. Do not read this book if unimportant blah annoys young. Because even though Dash and Lily often manages to comment on important details they do just as often end up being to teenagers playing a game of truth or dare.
